Psalm 23, Our Comforting Shepherd

            A psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

    He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he leads me beside quiet waters,

    he refreshes my soul.

He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me;

your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

    my cup overflows.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Father, what a beautiful picture, you as the comforting shepherd who walks beside me. You insist on my rest. You strengthen my faith. You show me what is right. Father, not only are you with me in my hardest times, but you give me honor before any who would fight against me. What a joy that I can live with you forever. I love you, Lord.

  1. Amen!!! I can't wait to meet the Lord Jesus Christ, but pretty high up on my list is King David. His word pictures, especially in this psalm are incredible. His nearness, dependence, and satisfaction in the Lord are so inspiring!!! Thank you for this post, Kathy! (love, Erma) <3
